Week 7

KJB Matthew Chapters 18 to 28

In Matthew chapter 28 Jesus has been resurrected and is visited by his disciples in which he tells them to spread the word of the lord. Personally this text affected me by making me more easy going this is because after reading it I learned all about how even in his final hour Jesus wanted to help us. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (KJB Matthew 28:19). This quote really caught my attention because I am Christian and when we are baptized depending on what type you are they will baptize you in a different name. Catholics are baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost while later day saints are baptized in others names such as just Jesus. I’ve never seen any reference to this saying during baptism in the Bible which is why it stands out to me. “And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you” (KJB Matthew 28:7). This quotation made me very happy, the reason of why I became happy is because it reminded me that Easter is almost here and that Jesus had successfully performed his last miracle before returning back home to heaven. This chapter doesn’t remind me of any other works because this is the only religion and resurrection story that I know. This text supports my beliefs because it is the only written word from witnesses of what happened with Jesus’s resurrection, also I am baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost which was what Jesus proclaimed to do. This text has not given me new insight because I have known about the process of Jesus’ resurrection a majority of my life.
