Week 6

KJB: Matthew Chapters 9-17

In chapter 9 of Matthew in the KJB Jesus ministers to the public and performs many miracles. Personally after reading the chapter I felt more humble and grateful because I too was forgiven for my sins like the all the challenged people Jesus forgave. It has also personally affected me by causing me to be more faithful to God and to return to church more often. “And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it” (KJB Matthew 9:30). This quote really caught my attention in this essay just because of how complex eyesight really is,  our eyes are very mechanical and each piece relies on the other. Vision also uses the occipital lobe therefore when Jesus cured their blindness it was indeed a miracle because medical procedures were not advanced enough to fix blindness at the time. One part of the chapter that made me laugh was when Jesus forgave the sinner and the scribes called him “blasphemeth” which was followed up with Jesus asking if the scribes themselves had clean hearts I always found this scene funny in religious movies too because Jesus exposed the scribes in front of the people that they considered below them. This text doesn’t remind me of any other texts, the chapter is very famous and is one of the first stories anyone will hear about Jesus. This text supports my beliefs because I grew up believing Jesus performed these miracles and it also has elements of my personality such as forgiving someone no matter what their sins. Reading this text has given me more insight into the miracles Jesus performed that aren’t entirely famous yet.
