In Macbeth Act II we learn what becomes of Macbeth after King Duncan is murdered, we also learn about how Macbeth obtains the crown and gets away with the murder by killing the people he framed immediately. This text affected me by making me aware that people who want to put something off will likely be very inclined to help in that situation, this can be seen when Macbeth and Lady Macbeth hurry to the murder scene after its discovery and quickly give justice to Duncan’s framed murderers. A part of this text that caught my attention was when Lady Macbeth fainted, she accepted masculine characteristics easily and used them to manipulate Macbeth and the other nobles in order to secure the crown. In this case Lady Macbeth took attention off of the recent murder and also helped convince others of her innocence. A part of this text that provoked sadness was when Duncan’s sons had to separate and flee for their safety after Duncan’s death. This provoked sadness because I felt bad for the boys, they not lost their father but were also his suspected murderers along with the people Macbeth framed, this was because they fled quickly after the murder which was suspicious to Macduff. This part of the text reminds me of a book I read in middle school, I forgot the name of it but it talked about the history of the United Kingdom and how a rulers would be slayed and how their children would have to flee for safety because they were the next targets, being that they were the only obstacle to the crown. This text challenges my belief of innocence until proven guilty, even if you’re covered in blood you still need to be given a trial before being punished in my opinion. The text challenged my beliefs when Macbeth had the people he framed killed without giving them a trial, even though they had been covered in blood and looked like obvious suspects they still deserved a trial. This text has given me the insight to not flee if I know I’m innocent because I will likely look suspicious, the truth will always come out its better to take a chance and wait for the truth than flee and give the impression of guilt.
